Commissioner’s Group Citations

Group Citations have been introduced to recognise collective or group acts of bravery, conspicuous conduct, excellence in overseas service and hazardous overseas service. In principle, these awards complement the range of individual AFP internal awards.

A new form of recognition in the way of Group Citations has also been introduced. These cover four main areas of endeavour being:

  • Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery;
  • Commissioner’s Group Citation for Conspicuous Conduct;
  • Commissioner’s Group Citation for Excellence in Overseas Service; and
  • Commissioner’s Group Citation for Hazardous Overseas Service.

Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery

Commissioner's Group Citation for BraveryThe Commissioner’s Commendation for Bravery is a new AFP internal award. The Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery recognises:

‘That the members involved performed in the discharge of their duties, acts of collective courage of a high order whereby the members consciously placed themselves at substantial risk of injury’

This Group Citation will be unique in design with recipients of the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery also being supplied with a miniature of the medal. Recipients will also receive a certificate containing the citation detailing the circumstances of the award.

The award of the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery will be announced by the Commissioner biannually and awarded at special ceremonies befitting the nature of this unique internal award.

Commissioner’s Group Citation for Conspicuous Conduct

Commissioner's Group Citation for Conspicuous ConductThe Commissioner’s Commendation for Conspicuous Conduct is a new AFP internal award. The Commissioner’s Group Citation for Conspicuous Conduct recognises:

‘That the members involved has demonstrated a collective outstanding dedication to duty in circumstances demanding tenacity of a high order’

This Group Citation will also be unique in design. Recipients of the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Conspicuous Conduct will also be supplied with a miniature of the medal. Recipients will also receive a certificate containing the citation detailing the circumstances of the award.

The award of the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Conspicuous Conduct will be announced by the Commissioner biannually and awarded at special ceremonies befitting the nature of this unique internal award.

Commissioner’s Group Citation for Excellence in Overseas Service

Commissioner's Group Citation for Excellence in Overseas ServiceThe Commissioner’s Commendation for Conspicuous Conduct is a new AFP internal award. The Commissioner’s Group Citation for Conspicuous Conduct recognises:

‘The display of collective excellence in overseas service whilst undertaking core business and adhering to the corporate values of the AFP’

As with other Group Citations, this award will be unique in design. A device will also be available for wearing in every day use as with other similar awards (uniformed members) or a lapel pin for other AFP Employees. Recipients of the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Excellence in Overseas Service will also be supplied with a miniature of the medal. Recipients will also receive a certificate containing the citation detailing the award.

Commissioner’s Group Citation for Hazardous Overseas Service

Commissioner's Group Citation for Hazardous Overseas ServiceThe Commissioner’s Commendation for Conspicuous Conduct is a new AFP internal award. The Commissioner’s Group Citation for Conspicuous Conduct recognises:

‘Collective devotion to duty in overseas service whilst operating in hazardous circumstances and/or environments’

This Group Citation is again, unique in design. A device will also be available for wearing in every day use as with other similar awards (uniformed members) or a lapel pin for other AFP Employees. Recipients of the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Hazardous Overseas Service will also be supplied with a miniature of the medal. Recipients will also receive a certificate containing the citation detailing the award.

The award of the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Hazardous Overseas Service will be announced by the Commissioner biannually and awarded at special ceremonies befitting the nature of this unique internal award.
