Commissioners Medals for Excellence and Innovation
At the forefront of the AFP internal awards will be the introduction of two new awards, namely the Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence and the Commissioner’s Medal for Innovation.
Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence
The Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence will be awarded for:
‘Excellence by individuals or an identified group in pursuit of the AFP’s core business outcomes & encompassing corporate values to the highest level’
The medal features a medallion that is suspended from a riband. The medallion will be unique to the AFP and will feature symbols and designs synonymous with the organisation.
The accompanying ribbon to the medal will also be unique in design. This ribbon will also be available for wearing in every day use (uniformed members) as with other similar awards. Recipients of the Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence will be supplied with a miniature of the medal. Recipients will also receive a certificate containing the citation detailing the award.
The award of the Commissioner’s Medal for Excellence will be announced by the Commissioner on AFP Foundation Day (October 19th) and Commissioner’s Appointment date (April 2nd) on an annual basis and awarded at a special ceremony befitting the nature of this unique internal award.

‘Outstanding innovation by individuals or an identified group in pursuit of the AFP’s core business outcomes & encompassing corporate values to the highest level’
The medal features a medallion (design yet to be finalised) that is suspended from a riband. The medallion will be unique to the AFP and will feature symbols and designs synonymous with the organisation.
