Constable Kenny Koala

Constable Kenny logoConstable Kenny Koala is a trusted adviser for thousands of Canberra kids. He reinforces the message that police are friendly, caring people who are here to help them.

Constable Kenny Koala is a community personality within the ACT region and has been a visible educator and friend to many people. For over 25 years Constable Kenny Koala has been educating children, primarily aged 3-11 on a range of crime prevention and child safety messages.

The Constable Kenny Koala Program is principally aimed at delivering safety messages to young children. The program has a very strong community focus and endeavours to bridge the community and the Australian Federal Police.

The core of the Constable Kenny Koala Program is to educate primary school children at various levels. While the heart of the campaign is safety, this is taught through lessons and activities that involve a range of curriculum elements including language, mathematics and social skills. This is key to the successful implementation of the campaign as it allows teachers to integrate the Constable Kenny Koala message into the curriculum.

The Constable Kenny Koala Program has three primary safety messages; Threats to Self and Others, Community Responsibility and Traffic and Road Safety. The program is designed to teach children how to effectively deal with various situations that may, in later years lead to crime or the fear of crime.
