ACT Policing - for ACT schools

ACT Policing and ACT schools work closely together to promote a safe and secure learning environment for all students in the ACT.

The main objective of liaison and services between ACT Policing and the ACT Department of Education and Training is a focus on:

  • establishing positive relationships with young people
  • engaging young people in experiences aimed at personal growth
  • preventing youth crime
  • directing interventions for young people at risk through programs such as RecLink and other activities offered through the PCYC
  • helping young offenders through the restorative justice process
  • breaking down barriers between young people and police
  • identifying and developing appropriate strategies for crime prevention and youth development.

Presentations at schools by police

Schools often request presentations by police to classes or assemblies on different topics such as drugs and alcohol, cyber-bullying and personal safety.

ACT Policing and the ACT Department of Education are currently working together to standardise our presentation packages to ensure police messages are delivered to students in the most effective way. Once finalised, the packages will be built into school curriculum to make sure all students are educated on important lifestyle subjects to help them make smart choices.

If you have suggestions on the types of topics you would recommend for police education packages, please send an email.
