ACT Crime Stoppers success
Since starting in December 1996, information gathered through ACT Crime Stoppers has been responsible for:
- over 640 arrests
- over 1,700 charges
- seizure of drugs valued at more than $15.3 million
- recovery of $390,000 in cash believed to be the proceeds of illegal activity, and
- recovery of $770,000 in property.
Rewards of almost $15,000 have also been made.
Examples of crimes solved as a result of Crime Stoppers include:
- the conviction of a Canberra man for murder
- the seizure of millions of dollars worth of cocaine entering Canberra, and
- the discovery of a massive cannabis plantation in Michelago.
