25th AFP anniversary celebration and exhibition at Westfield Belconnen
9 October 2004
The 25th AFP anniversary celebration and exhibition on Saturday (October 9) at Westfield Belconnen was another successful event on the roadmap towards October 19 when Australia formally recognises a quarter century of policing by the Australian Federal Police. The day’s event, which included a display of a range of ACT Policing capabilities and services – from the K9 drug detection dogs, the Volunteers in Policing, Crime Prevention’s Constable Kenny Koala, the Chequered Ribbon Association, Traffic Operations’ motorcycles and a display of police vehicles inside and outside the shopping plaza – was coordinated by Detective-Superintendent Greg Ranse and an ACTP 25th anniversary committee. Many who attended witnessed its popularity – and it wasn’t only the prospect of a piece of chocolate birthday cake with attracted so many members of the public!
