Message from Chief Police Officer Audrey Fagan APM on the opening of the new Woden Police Station

Our new station is a project which should bring a great deal of pride to all those who have been involved in it over the past two and a half years, and all those who will use it as their workplace.

The ACT Government has provided ACT Policing with these high quality facilities and importantly, at the outset, put in place a wide consultative process which involved police input during the architectural phase to ensure the building's features will fully satisfy our operational needs.

Together, the Woden Station staff - sworn officers, unsworn members and our Volunteers in Policing - are looking forward to operating from the station.

When the old Woden Station opened in 1970, there was no Phillip business district. In fact, there were only a few hundred residents in the Woden Valley.

The growth and vibrancy of this area and the Tuggeranong Valley has made Woden a logical centre of operations for our South District.

It's sometimes forgotten that while police serve the community, we too, are members of it. We all want a safe, secure and just environment for ourselves and our families.

Up-to-date facilities such as the new Woden Station will help us to continue to provide the community - our community - with the best possible policing service.
