Thousands Flock to Woden Station Open Day
19 November 2005
An inquisitive crowd estimated at more than 2000 people attended a hugely successful Open Day for the new Woden Police Station on Saturday, November 19.
Visitors of all ages made the most of this unique opportunity as almost every facet of ACT Policing operations was represented and displayed, together with plenty of entertainment and free rides for the children. The younger visitors, in particular, made the most of the opportunity to meet Constables Kip and Kenny Koala.
Over 2000 sausages were cooked up by police officers and our Volunteers in Policing over the five hours, some $1300 in gold coin donations were raised for the Koomari charity appeal, while Woden Station’s Officer-in-Charge Sgt Steve Cooke and his team conducted almost non-stop public tours of the facility throughout the day.
