30-year-old to face driving charges

Wednesday, 06 August 2008

A 30-year-old Spence man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on traffic offences following a pursuit overnight.

About 11.25pm, Tuesday, 5 August, police detected a blue coloured Nissan Pulsar travelling at speed on Anthony Rolfe Avenue, Gungahlin.

Police followed the vehicle before attempting to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and accelerated away from police, travelling through numerous Gungahlin residential streets before mounting a kerb.

The alleged offender then fled the vehicle and was apprehended after a short foot chase on Best Lane, Gungahlin.

The male was subsequently arrested and conveyed to the Regional City Watch house where he returned a positive breath test.

Further checks revealed the vehicle was reported stolen on Sunday, 3 August 2008.

The 30-year-old will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on charges of driving a motor vehicle without consent, drink driving and traffic offences.
