Attempted ATM theft

Sunday, 05 October 2008

ACT Policing is investigating the attempted theft of an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) from the rear foyer of the Canberra Sothern Cross Club West, in Macquarie around 5.20am yesterday (October 4).

The offenders have reversed a stolen panel van into the doors of the building and attempted to remove a free-standing ATM from the foyer.

The stolen vehicle sustained damage during the incident, causing it to break down, as a result the offenders fled the scene empty handed.

Police are yet to determine if this incident is related to the theft of an ATM in Fyshwick on Thursday October 2.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious persons or activity in the Macquarie area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
