Man charged with theft of necklace

ACT Policing has charged a 20-year-old man with the theft of a necklace from a jewellery shop in Woden around 1pm on Tuesday (August 12).
The necklace is valued at almost $4,000.
Acting on information received, male and female persons of interest were sought by police. Around 2.45pm on Friday (August 15), a traffic stop was performed on a red Holden Vectra in Kitchener St, Hughes. Police arrested two males and two females.
Police then conducted a search of the home of one of the alleged female offenders and jewellery was seized along with a small quantity of a suspected illicit drug. An amount of currency was also seized from the possession of two of the alleged offenders.
A male and a female were released without charge. The 20-year-old male charged with theft will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (August 18). The other female, aged 18, from Hughes continues to help police with their enquiries.
Police are currently conducting investigations into a number of similar theft incidents over the past week at a number of locations around the ACT.
