Man to face driving charges

Friday, 19 September 2008

A 22-year-old Dunlop man will face the ACT Magistrates Court on traffic offences following a pursuit yesterday (September, 18).

About 5.20pm, police received information from the public that an orange Holden Commodore had been seen driving in a dangerous manner.

Police located the vehicle and followed it at road speed, before the vehicle commenced to park on a nature strip on Branson Street, Dunlop.

Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the vehicle allegedly drove off the nature strip and sped off.

A short pursuit ensued through several streets in Dunlop before the vehicle stopped near the intersection of Branson and Polilight Streets and the driver allegedly fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later.

The 22-year-old will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on drink driving, drive whilst disqualified, drive an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and fail to comply with police direction.
