Fourth man charged over Perth ecstasy import

A 31-year-old man will face Sydney Magistrates Court today charged with conspiring to traffic a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.
He is the fourth person charged in relation to a joint-agency investigation into the importation of 45 kilograms of powdered MDMA (ecstasy) into Western Australia.
The operation, which included the Australian Federal Police, Australian Crime Commission (ACC), Western Australia Police and Customs resulted in three arrests on Monday, 19 May.
A 58-year-old Sydney man, a 31-year-old Melbourne man and a 39-year-old man from Queensland faced Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of MDMA. The Sydney and Melbourne men were also charged with drug importation offences.
ACC investigators arrested the 31-year-old Sydney man at a Manly premises in Sydney’s northern beaches yesterday.
The maximum penalty for this life imprisonment and/or an $825,000 fine.
