Thursday, 21 February 2008

A 38-year-old Glenwood man is the second person to be charged by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) with child pornography offences following a referral from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The man will appear in Sydney Central Local Court this afternoon.

The AFP investigation began in June last year when the FBI alerted the AFP Online Child Sex Exploitation Team (OCSET) to the man.

As a result of information provided to the AFP, two search warrants were executed on a Glenwood and Northmead residential addresses today. A laptop computer, a USB thumb drive, documents, electronic organiser and mobile phone were seized and are currently undergoing forensic testing.

AFP agents charged the Glenwood man with possession of child pornography under section 91H(3) Crimes Act 1900.

The maximum penalty for these offences is five years imprisonment.

A man was arrested in December 2007 and charged with three counts of using a carriage service for child pornography material.
