Sydney man arrested over child exploitation

A 22-year-old Sydney man faced child exploitation charges today following his arrest by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) yesterday.
Search warrants were conducted by the AFP’s Child Protection Operations Team (CPOT) at his workplace on 30 July 2008.
During the execution of the search warrant a laptop computer was located and seized.
The man was arrested at Sydney Airport on 10 August 2008 as he was returning from Brisbane.
He was charged with using a carriage service to transmit child pornography material contrary to Section 474.19(1)(a)(iii) of the Criminal Code Act 1995.
The maximum penalty for this offence is 10 years imprisonment.
The man was bailed to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on 23 September 2008.
