Combating the drug trade
The AFP has taken the fight against the drug trade offshore. In co-operation with our international partners, and through our overseas liaison officer network and with the support of the Law Enforcement Cooperation Program (LECP), we are actively seeking opportunities to target drug syndicates in source or transit countries.
Benefits
Seeking these opportunities, has many benefits including:
- greater opportunities to arrest criminal syndicate leaders
- larger seizures
- greater disruption effects
- limiting the availability of safe havens for syndicates to operate from
- increasing the skill levels of developing law enforcement agencies through working along side the AFP
- reinforcing levels of international co-operation.
