Male silhouette

Name: Ian

Age: 34

Home Town: Canberra

Previous work experience: On leaving school I commenced an apprenticeship as a plumber, completing my training and becoming a qualified plumber. I continued working as a qualified plumber for a large company for several years before joining the AFP. Whilst working as a plumber I undertook further studies and obtained a tertiary degree in business administration.

Qualifications: A tertiary degree in business administration and a qualified plumber. Since joining the AFP I have obtained a diploma in Public Safety.

What attracted you to the AFP?

I was attracted to the AFP because of the number of different opportunities that the organisation presented. The ability to travel and work internationally on peace keeping missions, the IDG and International networks as well as being able to work domestically in community policing and national operations.

What are your impressions so far?

I have really enjoyed the eight years I have been with the AFP. I have travelled overseas extensively, worked in a variety of areas including Community Policing, ACT Detectives and currently working in Counter Terrorism.

I highly recommend the AFP to any prospective employees.
